Don’t Get Steamed!

Switch to Continental’s Crimped Steam Hose

Success Story: Safety

A local laundry facility was using a Boss Ground 4 Bolt Joint Coupling to secure their steam hoses to their equipment.

Due to steam leaking out from around the couplings when OSHA came out for an inspection, they were cited for unsafe hose practices and given 30 days to remedy. Shortly thereafter, Sunset Industrial was called out to inspect the steam hoses.

Sunset’s Solution

Upon inspection, Sunset found that not only was the customer using an unreliable fitting, but that the fitting was installed upside down and, in addition, had one of the four bolts missing from the coupling.

Sunset Industrial took proper measurements and replaced all existing steam hoses with Continental’s, one-piece, Crimped Steam Hose. This resulted in:

  • Reduced Steam Loss/Profit Leaks
  • Addressed OSHA Citation
  • Ensured a more reliable and safe steam hose.
  • Upon installing the initial hose, the customer eventually switched out all hoses to the safer and more reliable design.

Continental’s Crimped Steam Hose

A leaky steam hose can “hiss away” 2.6 lbs. of steam per minute. Annually, that can really add up! That’s why Continental has developed a Crimped Steam Hose Program. The program combines their premium steam hose with couplings specifically designed for steam assemblies that reduce leaks, lessen electrostatic discharges and cut costs.

Features & Benefits

  • Steam Hose Testing: tested to the absolute highest standards to guarantee your safety.
  • Eliminates Dangerous Leaks
  • Improves Safety
  • Since the ferrule bites to wire, you achieve electric continuity to reduce the risk of static discharges & shocks.
  • A crimped coupling is a permanent attachment that reduces potential leaks, blowouts & the need to retighten clamps.
  • The low-profile fittings allow for hand tight connection & improved connection sealing face with high-temperature Viton O-ring to eliminate leaks.
  • No more need for repeated retightening of bolt clamps & chance of injury.
